New Yezdi motorcycle

Classic Legends, owned by Mahindra & Mahindra, recently unveiled several new Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA motorcycles at a dealership event. One particular Yezdi model has garnered significant interest for its potential impact on the Indian market.

New Jawa and BSA Motorcycles Teased

Classic Legends, the company behind Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA motorcycles, recently revealed prototypes of new models to their dealers. The lineup included various BSA bikes, such as the BSA Gold Star 650, and a concept with a bobber-style design that may compete with the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. Additionally, there were four new Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles showcased, including a Yezdi Roadster with a unique exhaust system similar to brands like MV Agusta and Ducati.

The Lightweight Yezdi Roadster

The Lightweight Yezdi Roadster was featured at the event and has attracted attention for its unique design. It is set to be the lightest and most performance-oriented motorcycle from the brand.

The new bike is based on the same chassis and powertrain as the Yezdi Scrambler. It features a slightly angular fuel tank, similar side body panels, and identical front suspension and footpeg designs. However, it differs from the Scrambler with a flatter seat, a mono-shock rear suspension setup, a single exhaust, and twin-pod analog instrumentation with a digital D-pad on the left switchgear.

Potential Pricing and Positioning

The new Yezdi motorcycle, priced competitively at under Rs. 2 lakh and weighing around 180 kg, could potentially challenge Honda and Royal Enfield in the Indian market. Powered by a 334cc DOHC 4v liquid-cooled engine generating 28.7 bhp and 28.2 N.m of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox, Yezdi appears to be introducing a lighter, road-friendly version of its Scrambler with lesser features at a more affordable price.

Conclusion:

Classic Legends is generating anticipation for its upcoming lineup, highlighting the new lightweight Yezdi Roadster. If Yezdi successfully combines performance, pricing, and weight, it may have a significant impact on the Indian market, competing with established brands such as Royal Enfield and Honda. The new Yezdi Roadster features an advanced engine, light build, and distinctive design elements, indicating a potential shift in the brand’s image and appeal to its dedicated fans.
